As your children age, it can be hard to figure out which car seat is going to be best for them. You’re already frustrated with how many new clothes and shoes you have to buy for your growing little ones, and now you have to consider multiple car seats? Don’t worry, we’ve compiled a list of the main types and the benefits and requirements for each.

At Unique Auto Body we are experts on getting your car back in tip-top shape after an accident. But we are not able to fix damaged things that aren’t your car. By putting your child in the right car seat you can save their life and keep them from a lot of harm in the event of a car accident.  So weigh and measure your child and see which car seat is going to be best for them!

Infant-only Car Seat

These car seats are for your brand new baby up until they are about 25-35 lbs. You can use this car seat from right after they’re born until they’re about 2 years old.  Make sure this seat is backward-facing the entire time you are using it.

Infant-Toddler Car Seat

These function as both rear-facing seats for babies and toddlers and forward-facing seats for older children. Many new ones are designed to hold a child of up to 40 pounds rear-facing and up to 70 pounds forward-facing. It’s safest to leave your child rear-facing as long as possible. These seats can be used until children are about 3 depending on size.

Booster Car Seat

These seats are for kids who are at least 4 and weigh at least 40 pounds. They use the regular car lap and shoulder belts to secure the child. Backless boosters are fine when used with an automobile seat that provides head support. You can use this seat until your child is about 5.

Your children are the most important things in your life, and while we can fix your car, we can’t protect your child. We hope that this guide will be helpful to you.
